2010 Summer - Day 20
The trip from Williams, AZ was brutal. The outside temperature was 107 degrees and the inside temperature was 82. The highways are in dyer need of repair and we shook most of the way here. We decided to bypass the route across Hoover Dam since we heard there was a 3 or 4 hour backup . All trucks and RVs are inspected prior to crossing for security reasons. The detour added about an hour to our drive. The route took us into a small section of California. Technically, we have now been in states that border the Atlantic and Pacific oceans on this trip.
We arrived around 4:30PM. It was hot - 107 degrees. We decided to stay in until the evening. Iris wanted to drive down "the strip" so around 8:00PM we left. The thermometer in the Jeep said the outside temperature we 110! I thought that was an error until I heard the newscast.
"The strip" was packed with tourists walking everywhere. No one seem to mind the nighttime heat. We decided not to leave the air conditioning of the Jeep last night and plan to venture out tonight.
